Parties and Suites

If you’re planning to throw a party for members, please let us know! We will list parties on our website and in our at-con newsletter, and we will group parties near each other at the Davenport Hotel. First make your hotel reservation, then you can contact our, with your reservation number, so that we can give you the right room. For the convenience of members, Sasquan’s facilities team is managing the allocation of suites in all convention hotels. Please use the housing bureau page to make your regular hotel reservation, then contact our team. Give us your reservation number so that we can change your reservation to give you the suite you want, given availability.

If you want a suite to throw a party, please contact our suites team and parties team (parties-at and suites-at our domain name), again with your reservation number, and we’ll put you in the right suite for your party. Parties are an important aspect of Worldcon and we’re glad you are coming to have fun with us!

Accessible Rooms and Locations

All of our hotels have a number of fully accessible sleeping rooms (i.e. where you can wheelchair into the shower). If you require an accessible room, please use the housing bureau page to make a regular hotel reservation, and then contact the team with your reservation number. They will coordinate with the housing bureau to ensure that you get an appropriate room.

If you have a mobility or other access issue which may not require a fully accessible room but does require a specific location, you should be able to reserve the hotel of your choice through the housing bureau page. If it appears to be sold out, please contact the Accessibility team for assistance. The housing bureau is holding back some rooms for this purpose, and we will contact you about the way to complete your reservation.

Shoulder Dates (before and after the convention)

Among the early takers, the demand for room nights before and after the convention is running higher than expected. This isn’t a serious problem. Although the hotels have only assigned a limited number of rooms on these dates for the housing bureau database, that’s only to make sure we don’t get stuck with attrition charges. The hotels have plenty of rooms available before and after the convention and they are happy to adjust the room allocation for us at our request. The housing bureau is giving and receiving updates with the hotels as needed. Please contact the housing bureau if you have any questions. If you are concerned about a hotel possibly selling out on the peak nights (the Friday and Saturday night of the convention), you may wish to book a room for the dates the housing bureau page shows as available, and then you can contact the housing bureau and amend your reservation once the database makes more rooms available. Spokane is a popular tourist destination and we expect one or more hotels, especially the Doubletree, to sell out the weekends before and/or after the convention, but the regular tourist trade tends to book three to six months out. This page will be updated when shoulder dates become scarce or unavailable at any of the hotels.

Hotel Policies

Smoking is not permitted in any of our contracted hotels, or in fact any public building. This includes common areas and guest rooms for any kind of smoking (tobacco, marijuana, evapor, whatever). Most hotels may levy a cleaning charge for a room where smoking has occurred. All of our contracted hotels allow small caged pets (generally up to 40 pounds) to stay in the room with hotel guests. The hotels have a fee (typically $15-$25) per room per night; however, there is no charge to bring a service animal with you. Cleaning staff will not enter a room if an animal is not in a cage. Our hotels are accommodating, but please double-check with them if “pet” means something other than a dog or cat.
