Childcare Booking Now Available

Childcare capacity is limited and we urge parents to book all childcare hours in advance where possible, so we can ensure adequate staffing and service.

KiddieCorp is now accepting bookings directly from Sasquan members at this link: https://www.kiddiecorp.com/sasquankids.htm

KiddieCorp’s service will be available to all children aged 12 or under as of the start of the convention. Child memberships costing $90 are available for all children in this age group and include 8 hours of free childcare. Alternatively, a total of 8 hours of free childcare is included with Family Memberships. Additional hours are then chargeable at a rate of $10 per hour per child. Children under 6 can attend the convention as KidsinTow without paying a membership fee, but will not receive any free childcare and will therefore need to pay the $10 per hour charge for all childcare hours that they use.

Please note that your children must be registered with the convention (whether with Child/Family memberships or as KidsinTow) before they can be booked into the KiddieCorp service.

The childcare service will be located in the Doubletree, which is connected to the Convention Center. We have included evening services on Friday and Saturday to enable parents to attend the parties as well as Masquerade and/or Hugo Award Ceremony. Please note that children can only receive a maximum of 10 hours of childcare on any single day. The childcare service will be available during the following hours (subject to change):

Wednesday 8/19: 1:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Thursday 8/20: 9.30 AM – 6:00 PM
Friday 8/21: 9.30 AM – Midnight
Saturday 8/22: 9.30 AM – Midnight
Sunday 8/23: 9.30 AM – 3:00 PM

Sasquan members can register for childcare services at https://www.kiddiecorp.com/sasquankids.htm

Places are limited and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis, so please book well in advance.

If you have any questions about childcare services, please contact the Childcare Staff.

HUGO NOMINEE PACKET AVAILABLE

Spokane, Washington, 18 May 2015
A digital file of many of the Hugo Award nominees is now available for members of Sasquan to download at http://sasquan.org/hugo-awards/packet_download/. This free download is supplied by the creators and publishers of works that are nominated for the awards. It is free to all current Supporting, Attending and Young Adult members of Sasquan, and those who become members before 31 July 2015. Its purpose is to allow those who are voting on the Hugo Awards to be able to make an informed choice among the nominated works.

All of the short fiction and graphic novels are included in their entirety. The packet contains the full text of three of the novels: The Dark between the Stars by Kevin J. Anderson, The Goblin Emperor by Katherine Addison, amd The Three Body Problem by Cixin Liu. Skin Game by Jim Butcher and Ancillary Sword by Ann Leckie are represented by extensive excerpts. One of the five finalists in the Related Work category is represented by an excerpt: Letters from Gardner, by Lou Antonelli. There is some material in each of the other categories except the Dramatic Presentations, but not everyone wanted us to include their work in this packet.

Voting on the Hugo Awards is open to all Supporting, Attending or Young Adult members of Sasquan. More information about voting and a ballot may be found at http://sasquan.org/site-selection/. In order to vote, you will have to enter your membership number and Hugo PIN at http://sasquan.org/hugo-awards/voting.
