Worthy’s Davenport Hotel Collection Franchises with Marriott’s Autograph Collection
It was announced July 10 that the four iconic hotels from the Davenport Hotel Collection will be the first in Washington State to franchise with the Autograph Collection. The Autograph Collection is Marriott International’s newest brand that features independent hotels and resorts from around the world representing upper-upscale and luxury properties with distinctive personalities. All four hotels are set to join the Autograph portfolio by the end of 2014.
Walt and Karen Worthy, developers and owners of the Davenport Hotel Collection and developers of the new 716 room convention hotel, the Grand Hotel Spokane, reviewed several proposals from various national hotel franchises and decided that the Autograph Collection was the very best brand for their unique hotels. Lynnelle Caudill, Managing Director for the Collection stated, “Marriott was looking to have a stronger presence in this market and we were looking for a partner who could help us attract new business to Spokane; and the Autopgraph Collection made perfect sense. The Autograph Collection gives us a tremendous opportunity to leverage Marriott’s industry leading global reservations system, and strong customer outreach through their ecommerce and sales and marketing platforms.”
Corporate Director of Sales & Marketing, Matt Jensen, shared “We wanted to make sure we were aligned with other properties recognized for their uniqueness. Take the historic Davenport Hotel, for example, which celebrates 100 years of service this year. We needed a partnership that would allow us to continue to own and operate our hotels under their current names, while gaining new benefits for our guests, like the valued rewards (points) program and reservation systems for which Marriott is known.”
Matt further explained the benefits of the partnership, which include, having Marriott’s national sales team represent the Collection in their sales efforts, helping to build awareness of Spokane as a destination for meetings and conventions.
